Why consulting jobs are on the rise, and hiring someone to asset you teams' creativity is a good

It really makes sense to hire someone external to solve internal problems and gain a new perspective while saving money and improving performance. According to Forbes magazine it makes sense to hire a consultant but evaluate before jumping into this journey. I remember when I decided to reactivate my consultant job, specifically in creativity and innovation, it was challenging. I was touching base with some acquaintances that, to be honest, were really helpful but others...Um...I still need an adjective to describe their attitude. I remember one person in particular who works in a highly creative environment. I contacted that person and offered my service for free, as I am starting in the U.S it is more than natural to build and start from scratch. I remember his/her reply. They said, “We are technical.” I had considered this person to be creative and their answer really shocked me. I have to admit, people who are in denial of the power of creativity are either ignorant or selfish. This conclusion may seem really harsh but let me explain my reasoning behind it.

Ignorant because they are not aware of the benefits. Creativity plays a critical role as a foundation for many fields; and selfish, because the person I was talking to at this particular company is indeed a creative person. My hope was that as a creative person he/she will know the benefits without me pitching or selling the idea. A person who is creative and aware of the importance of creativity that won't allow others to explore and gain back their creativity is selfish.

Let me elaborate my point better. Creativity is the catalyst for anything and everything...from the arts, to science and even at home...when cooking or even cleaning we all need to be creative. One of the biggest misconceptions we have is that we cannot and do not know how to be creative and attribute this solely to the "arts", meaning artists and designers.

This soft skill seems to be out of our radar when it should be the foundation for every aspect of our lives. The reality is that every company at every level should promote creativity and embrace innovation.

Innovation and productivity are always derived from creativity and in order to master this art, you need to use it or lose it, as they say...

To conclude, I want to invite you to make the plunge and gain your creativity back. Hire a consultant, a person who can help you tap and unleash entreprenuership in your company and be part of the companies that are re-inventing the present and will be key players on the future.
